Tears from Heaven

Solo Exhibition

30 June - 11 August 2024

Tirtodipuran Link Building B, Yogyakarta

The title of this exhibition, Tears from Heaven, follows the title of Pramuhendra's installation piece, which features the sculpture Pieta—Virgin Mary holding the body of Jesus—drenched in rainwater, like tears falling from heaven. The interplay of light and shadow, the raindrops on the surface of the statue, and the accompanying music evoke a transcendental resonance—yet also a deep sense of compassion. In another installation, Calvary, large burnt wooden beams are stacked like the remnants of a Cross.

lupakan Wianta

Solo Exhibition

8 June – 14 July 2024

Galeri R. J. Katamsi, Yogyakarta

This exhibition presents a variety of paintings and drawings by Made Wianta as well as books, photographs, and videos of performance art by Made Wianta and about Made Wianta as what Ernst van Alphen (2015) calls “staging the archive.”

Here, paintings, drawings, books, photographs, and videos of performance art by Made Wianta and about Made Wianta are presented not only as “archival artworks,” but also as art work by a loyal artist whose lies depend on sincere and self-aware beauty.

Monstrous Mastery

Solo Exhibition

2 March – 5 May 2024

Tirtodipuran Link Building A, Yogyakarta

“Behind the concrete walls, amidst the ceaseless noise of the city, lies another world that inhabits the human imagination. The fusion of monstrous figures and technical prowess gives birth to a harmonious blend of diverse elements and principles of visual art in the city's darkness. Darbotz carves a story onto the urban canvas, stirring the imagination about the harshness of life in the concrete jungle, manifested in the form of boldly and maturely presented Monsters.”
